I observed the flooding from the hill overlooking the dam and neighborhood below it. It was SURREAL to see the rushing water turn streets into rivers and to see the water cascade down to LaCienega and Rodeo Rd. I remember seeing a cop car being carried by the water near Fedco, its red lights still flashing. Only later did I learn that someone had been swept into a street drain and lodged there beneath the water. It was a terrible tragedy that I will never forget..........

I remember it well. I was living in my first apartment on Hauser off Washington. The water didn't reach my neighborhood but was close enough! I worked at Von's on Crenshaw and Santa Barbara and fortunately it didn't reach that far either but we were very close to the affected area.

Wow! Talk about living through history! I remember this event. So glad I lived between Jefferson and Adams at the time. The water didn't come that far.
