One More Week Needed to Complete Decking for Future Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project Underground Station

Due to recent rains the detour on Crenshaw Boulevard for construction of the Crenshaw/Expo underground station will need to be extended for an additional week in January. The extra time is required so that the decking can be completed for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project Expo station.
Crenshaw Boulevard between Rodeo Road and the Metro Expo Line tracks will close from 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, to 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12.
Excavation, installation of steel beams and installation of concrete planks is 90 percent complete between Rodeo Place and the Expo Line tracks. The remaining work is immediately south of the Expo tracks. The work to be done includes additional excavation of the street and installation of the remaining steel beams and decking planks. Repairing and rebuilding sidewalks and driveways will then be completed in the area and street lights and traffic signals will also be reconnected.
Crenshaw Boulevard between Rodeo Road and Rodeo Place was  open to daily since Dec. 14, 2014.
The 7 day January closure detour will be as follows:
Southbound:
If traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard, turn right at Jefferson Boulevard, turn left at La Brea, turn left at Rodeo Road.
Northbound:
If traveling northbound on Crenshaw Boulevard vehicles will be allowed to turn right and left at Rodeo Road and westbound and eastbound traffic on Rodeo Road will remain open.
The decking will cover the street surface where construction of the Crenshaw/Expo station will take place underground beginning next year.
The station is the first of three underground stations. The other two are Crenshaw/MLK and Crenshaw/Vernon. Four stations will be at street level: Crenshaw/Slauson, Florence/West, Florence/La Brea and Florence/Hindry. Aviation/Century will be aerial.
Bus service:
Metro bus lines 210, 710 and 740 will have temporarily bus stops during this time. Service advisories could be found on the buses, current stops and on metro.net.
The 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX Line is a $2.058 billion light-rail line that will connect the Green Line and the Expo Line. It will have eight new stations. It is expected to open in 2019.
