If you try to avoid the traffic on Crenshaw as much as I do, you may not have noticed that progress is being made on the demolition of the former Rent-A-Center, Rite Aid Pharmacy, and another empty storefront at Rodeo Road. I've attached a few photos that I took a couple of weeks ago. Since then, the building to the north of Ralph's (Comet Cleaners, Chinese food/donut place) have been completely torn down and now there is a sign on the Ralph's that the store will be closing on May 24th.
Not sure what's going to take its place (a two story mall anchored by a Target store?), but it will be a vast improvement over the old eyesore.

Eddie -- I was bummed I didn't get a chance to take pix. I'm glad someone did. :)
cool video! thanks!
Thanks for the updates!
thanks Yvonne! I'm glad to hear there are plans -- I wish they included a Trader Joe's too -- but I'm surprised they include Ross and Smart & Final since there are already two of those in close vicinity. Hopefully I can make the meeting in June.
Hi, Nina -- thanks for the pix! The corner is definitely shaping into something else quickly. What a HUGE lot for the developers.
The project will be called "District Square". It will have a Ross, Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory, Target, and Smart & Final Express. [there will be other retailers, too!] The developers are slated to describe the project at the June Neighborhood Council Meeting. Look for the Agenda at www.ecwandc.org.
In the meantime, you can glance at the architect's rendering on the ECWA Facebook page: http://ow.ly/kOAex & http://ow.ly/kOAgL
