The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) will be opening the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List for the first time since 2004. They anticipate that about 600,000 pre-applications will be submitted for 20,000 spots on the Section 8 Waiting List. To participate in the lottery, people must submit an online application on any mobile device or internet-enabled computer.

Applications for the Section 8 Waiting List lottery must be submitted online ONLY at hacla.hcvlist.org and
will not be available in paper form
Applications will not be available or accepted at any HACLA office
As you know, many people will face barriers to applying online, including seniors, the disabled, homeless people, Limited English proficient individuals, veterans, and others who may not have internet access.
I want to make sure that the families and communities you serve are not left out of the application process. Given your agency's work with some of the most vulnerable families and individuals in Los Angeles, I request your help in ensuring that all eligible applicants learn of this opportunity and get access to the resources they need to successfully submit their pre-applications for the S8 Waiting List.
Some ways you can help are:
Raising awareness and providing accurate information about the application process to your constituents;
Providing access to computers and free public Wi-Fi for people without digital access to submit a pre-application;
Becoming a resident assistance center during the 2-week open enrollment period, where HACLA team members or other volunteers can provide support to applicants who face barriers to applying online.
