Founded in 1992 by then Los Angeles City Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas, the Empowerment Congress is a dynamic partnership among neighborhood groups, residents, non-profit organizations, businesses, religious institutions, and community leaders.
The Empowerment Congress is comprised of 2nd District stakeholders organized to engage their peers in efforts to improve their communities and directly impact policies and decisions that impact the daily lives of all constituents living in the 2nd Supervisorial District of Los Angeles.
The celebration included: Keynote speaker Reverand Al Sharpton, host of PoliticsNation on MSNBC; Herb Wesson, Los Angeles City Council President; Hill Harper, Actor-Author-Activist. Music performance by The Bricks was stellar.
The Event was held on the campus of USC. With more than a thousand people in attendance, the workshops, registration, information booths, breakfast & lunch and seating were a success of seamless perfection.-_-*
