Incidentally, I drive to Leimert Park from Westwood every night around 5:30. Tonight I did not see any helicopters until went east on Exposition and in the distance all of the helicopters ( I counted six) were east of Crenshaw.  I can't say they are LAPD. I thought Chris Dorner was hiding in the mountains. Why is our 2 square miles the focus for all of this helicopter activity?

Yes I did, from my Samsung Intercept.  I work in Burbank and no one heard about a thing.  And thanks for adding me to FB.  I can keep up with the new blogs now, because the go straight to my facebook page.  I missed out on the tree give away.  Looking for other friendly events to attend/ support.

Everybody at work asked me about the story because it was all over TV, Radio and the Internets. Did you take that picture - Nice Shot!

Thank you enhager,
I was awakened by the helicopters and the sirens, and had a momentary flash back of the 1994 earthquake, rushing around looking for shoes and car keys. The police came by banging on the doors but by the time I got my shoes on and jacket, etc. they proceeded further down the street to alert the rest of the block.

Once I looked out the window, it took a minute to figure out that THE car was located smack dab in front of me. The next thought was what were the odds of a terrorist or someone trying to make a statement by trying to blow up something up in Leimert Park? That statement would have been in the news for a while but fade behind the latest news of Lindsay Lohan. So, I decided to stay put, and if anything did happen the only thing that would be damaged in the explosion would be the windows.
I took a chance but if anything were to happen I could escape through the alley, which coincidentally, was partially blocked by the media.

I think what made the noise unbearable was that the helicopters just hovered in one spot and then periodically swoop, causing the walls to tremble.

But this story made an interesting conversation at work today. Hope your day went well overall.

wow really Crystal? Can you share what happened?

I didn't mean to be insensitive. I'm glad you're safe. It sounded like precaution was taken for your safety though it's very scary to think about leaving our house in the middle of the night.

 

I live about 6 blocks away I think from you. And still the noise was thunderous. kept us up the whole time. When it's a police helicopter what can you do? But a TV helicopter, can't they fly higher or come back later?

I was told the same thing, and thought it was odd that the media was up there instead of LAPD.  But as soon as the thought entered my brain there was a knock at the door.
