Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom Day Parade 2010 Celebrates in the Rain

Despite the rain and wind, thousands of happy and determined parade watchers and participants came out to celebrate the legacy of one of the greatest Americans, Martin Luther King, Jr.

The streets were flooded, umbrellas broken and there was no way to escape the elements - especially for those in the parade. But they gave us a show, and we stood and cheered. We sacrificed just a little to show our appreciation for those who sacrificed so much.

The parade started on Western and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., near the University of Southern California in University and Exposition Park heads toward Crenshaw Boulevard and ends in Leimert Park Village.

Last year's perfect weather was topped off with a festival in Leimert Park Village that last well into the night. Unfortunately most of brohaha was dampened this year.
