Join the California African American Museum's (CAAM) History Council for a special discussion with Historian Edwin Tingstrom. The Medal of Honor, created during the Civil War, is the highest military decoration given to a member of the Armed Forces. There have been 88 African American recipients. Edwin Tingstrom, a self-taught historian, has compiled a collection of 88 biographies of military servicemen who were recognized for their efforts to serve their country into a book, "Courage and Valor, Above and Beyond" Mr. Tingstrom will discuss these brave men and their heroism, who laid down their lives at the beginning of the Civil War, when little value was given for their sacrifices. RSVP is preferred at 213.744.2024. CAAM is located at 600 State Drive, Exposition Park, Los Angeles, CA 90037. For more information visit www.caamuseum.org or call (213) 744-2024.
