Join your Neighborhood Council at its first Town Hall Meeting of Spring.  Assemblymember Holly Mitchell will be there to give us a report on Sacramento and the awesome projects she's working on for our District.  In addition, NATIVE LA will give us pointers on using native plants to keep our ecosystems in tune with our native butterflies and birds, as well as working with the MTA on making our projects look as good as the Westside's.  We'll also learn about the Bay Area Delta Project and the impact this NorCal project will have on us from costs to San Joaquin farming.  All that and your comments and concerns.

Bring a neighbor!

There's so much more to your Neighborhood Council's meetings than just what's on the Agenda!  There will be a discussion about the upcoming Mayor's Budget Survey which will determine where the little money L.A. has will go.  Last year, only 14% of South LA responded.  Neighborhood Council meetings are where we can learn how the City works and how to make the City work for US.

This Saturday's meeting will include the seating of the recently voted-in Board by Councilman Herb Wesson.  There will also be a discussion on the community plan.  Of particular interest to Leimert Park residents will be Holiday Decorations for the area.  Come, enjoy the lively and informative news about our area and help direct the new Board in the right direction...  One that will benefit the future of all residents of the Empowerment Congress West!

Badge based gamification: is this just the thing that education needs?

Iridescent

Before these trends get too overblown, I’d like to dissect and compare two terms that are on their way to becoming the next big thing in education: gamification and badges.Gamification is a very broad term, that basically involves applying components of games to things that are not games, to make mo
