The impassioned poetry of the Black Power Movement of the 1960s-70s paved the way for Amiri Baraka,
Don L. Lee, Nikki Giovanni, and others. We will revisit the poetry of “Black Pride” and “Black Power” created
50 years ago, and then explore contemporary spoken word poetry. HBO Def Poetry Jam’s Ise Lyfe will be
featured. RSVP preferred 213.744.2024.
