Sun Ra Tribute Concert &

Arkestry of the Cosmos Exhibition Opening:
Saturday, February 9, 3-6pm - FREE!

A special one-time performance of two former members of The Arkestra Derf Reklaw (percussion) and Dale Williams (guitar), playing along with Dwight Trible (vocals), Edwin Livingston (bass), Bobby West (piano) and Marcus Miller (drums).

---

This exhibition will include over 150 rare photographs, videos, articles, complete vinyl discography (33 1/3s, 45s, and 78s), and archival concert posters. Original artwork by Ramsess, Ulysses Jenkins, and Aise Bourne will also be on exhibit, influenced or directly inspired by Sun Ra.

Sun Ra was born Herman Poole Blount in Birmingham, Alabama in 1914. Dedicated to awareness and a cosmic philosophy, Ra transformed into a creative, cosmic being by the name of Le Sony’r Ra, born to the Angel Race of  Saturn.  Ra was a pioneering afro-futurist and experimental composer. His first Los Angeles performance was at Dorsey High School in 1969, just a few blocks from where William Grant Still Arts Center is today.
